Mom’s Like Me!

Gorgeous fruits and vegetables fill the stands at the orchard.

Begging to be plucked up and admired.

Held and caressed in preparation for a delicious desert made from scratch.

The ingredients pulled from memory while the kids play in the hay and watch the animals at the barn.

I says pardon?

This mom doesn’t even know how to make flour rise.

That’s whyΒ the stores they have at those orchards are so successful.

Mom’s like me!

Such beautiful Cherries – waiting to be put in a pie. You don’t need to know how. No one is born knowing how to bake a cherry pie. Thank the Good Lord for Recipe Books. I love your photograph.

The little boots are so cute!

I am not much of a baker anymore but you could easily make apple crisp. It is a snap and tastes so yummy . . . and is a great way to use up all the apples from apple-picking.

What a beautiful red…anything made with fruit that fresh just has to be healthy, right?!
Love the boots. Look like a little one kicked them off on the fly!

I find baking to be a relaxing diversion, but I can understand why many people don’t enjoy it. Moms like me don’t mind sharing our goodies with moms like you though. πŸ™‚

I enjoy baking. But I had to learn to enjoy it. It wasn’t until a few years back I started liking it. Up until then I HATED IT!!!!
I should bake you a pie. πŸ˜‰ Or brownies…MMmm brownies are my special. πŸ™‚

OMG, those boots! I just die.

I don’t get much time to bake, though I do enjoy making simple recipes, and apple crisp or crumble is just about as simple as it gets. Seriously. Skin and chop apples, make a topping of butter, oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, & nutmeg, dump it on top, bake for 50 or so minutes, and voila! It really is that easy.

When I go apple or peach picking, I’m guilty of bringing the fruit over to my mom’s, so she’ll bake a pie. I don’t know why I haven’t dabble in that area yet! Why am I afraid of the pie?

    Do you have a dog?
    Then start baking.
If it tastes shitty the dog will eat anything.

I could totally relate with you, Leighann. I am hopelessly useless when it comes to cooking and using kitchen utensils πŸ™‚ But I do know where to get (i.e. buy) some of the most delicious dishes and desserts… That’s a skill, right? Right?!?!??? lol

    LOVE to bake.

Like Alison said: really, it’s easy, and the house smells great and kids, it’s the easiest ways to introduce kids into the kitchen.

    Just try it..for me.

    Just once.

I really like making cakes but pies… eh are a bit messy. I’m not as much of a fan… at least of the fruity kind.
BUT, My Grammy taught me a good trick. She buys frozen Apple pies and then sprinkles the top with cinnamon and suger herself… it LOOKS homemade but, it’s a total cheat! ha ha!

Thanks for linking up for #SundayFunday!

Baking is definitely an experience every time – I can’t count on one hand how many times I’ve done it myself but the one cake started out a bundt and ended up a snake so I don’t know if I would attempt a pie, you can’t really change that into anything if it doesn’t turn out right…
