Lesson Learned This Holiday Season

Because it’s the week before Christmas you are getting quick posts from me.

I am going to see the crazy doctor tomorrow and I’m feeling a little apprehensive.

So.. I will leave you with this.

The things I learned this holiday season, so far.

1. Do not purchase an inappropriate Christmas gift for someone you don’t like, but have to give a gift to, because your passive husband will not let you give it.

2. Wait until after the toddler goes to bed to wrap gifts, she doesn’t understand that her mother is OCD about the art of gift wrapping and just wants to roll in it.

3. Do not go shopping with the husband. Enough said.

4. The liquor store has a gift for everyone. Yes, everyone.

5. Do not start shopping in the summer for presents that you will hide and forget about. There are piles of pyjamas under the tree that I don’t remember buying.

6.Order adorable Christmas cards a month before send date this will keep you from searching Pinterest for crafts that you can pull off in an hour.

7. Invites to Christmas parties are not as free flowing as they used to be. Crash parties.

8. Purchase necessary boxes of chocolate at the very last minutes to save eating them all late at night while on Twitter.

9. Take holidays the week before Christmas, you won’t get anything done at work anyway. (You may make an appearance at work Christmas parties and get-togethers).

10. Take meds. Meds make everything and everyone more jolly.

Ah, see now if only you had posted this public service announcement earlier I would have thought of the LCBO for all of my gift giving shopping!

Good luck at your doctors appointment! I was suppose to go and see a second one tomorrow but decided to cancel because I didn’t want to have to put the money out up front before Christmas. Frugal and nutty . . . yesiree that is me!

What a great list. I especially enjoyed the part about your toddler wanting to roll in the wrapping paper. Mine likes to shred it, wad it, and throw it at me.

You had me laughing out loud again with this one. The liquor store has something for everyone, late night chocolate eating , Christmas cards and the party invites… cracking me up. I never thought of the liquor store as a place to buy gifts, new lesson learned. I keep chocolate out of my house for that very reason. Christmas cards… Don’t even get me started. I get shit every year from my sister because I dont send any out. Honestly it is the last thing on my very long to do list. Honestly I do not really always enjoy all the holiday party small talk but I do miss those nights out with hubs. There is always new years. Good luck at the doctor.

The purchasing of candy before the holiday is my downfall as well. I am constantly sneaking into our “stocking stash!”

I am kicking myself for not reading your tips BEFORE Christmas. Numbers 1, 4, 6, & 7 spoke to my soul.

“Soaking it in,” is the perfect way to enjoy it…the toddler AND the booze.

Hope the visit with the crazy doctor was everything you needed it to be. Been there. Sending you love!

I soaked in a lot of booze, and I’m not usually a drinker.
      My holidays were wonderful.
I give full credit to booze.
