Bedtime, Every Night

Why can’t bedtime be easy?

Read a story. Here’s your blanket, your drink, a quick kiss and hug.

Off to dream land you go, where unicorns and puppies live and you can eat all the candy you want.

All the live long day.

What do you mean no?

There’s no monkeys jumping on the bed! There’s no more drinks or stories or treats or music.

This is serious sleeping business and mommy wants to watch a show or blog a story or play candy crush.

I says pardon?

You have to pee?

You just went, I saw you.

Was it all that jumping? Was it all that drinking?

Alright. Down to business. Sleepy girls need to sleep. Let me scratch your back and whisper you a sweet story.

Yes a sweet story, no not a spooky one.

Yes, elephant poop is big. Please stop kicking the wall.

Hush and close you eyes.

Yes I’m here.

No, I don’t know what it would be like to have a tail, close your eyes and imagine it.

Of course I’m also thinking about having a tail.

Until tomorrow night.

🙂 So funny how what should be the most calming part of the day can ultimately be the most stressful. At least over here it is.

At least we can all relate!

Gah. I’m sorry bedtime is so hard. Sigh.

Yup, it’s the way it goes. Hard to settle down after having so much fun through the day. I understand where my kids are coming from (sounds like you do too) because I have trouble winding down as well. I still don’t like bedtime as an adult. Probably weird of me to say. It’s just not my favorite. I know, I know. Weird.
