Tips for Taking Care of your Skin

No one said that being a mom was ever easy. Hardly having the time to breathe, many moms neglect their skin without realizing the damage they’re doing. Barring the occasional visit to the beauty salon, what are some sure-fire ways to maintain healthy and radiant skin while not spending hours in front of a mirror? You can make yourself look a whole lot younger with the following simple and easy skin care tips.

The first and most important ingredient to healthy skin is water and plenty of it. Keeping properly hydrated will help to reduce wrinkles and maintain the elasticity of the skin. In fact, many will state that drinking adequate amounts of water each day is actually more effective at providing long-term results than even the most expensive creams and ointments.

Vitamins also play a vital role in skincare. Although many are well aware of the importance of vitamin E, relatively few moms appreciate that vitamin C is also critical at prolonging a youthful appearance. This is due to antioxidant properties of this substance and vitamin C is especially potent at providing protection against the damaging rays of the sun.

One of the most natural (and traditional) skin care tips, used for generations, is the application of virgin olive oil to the face, neck, and hands. This oil contains lots of substances that will help the skin maintain a healthy shine and luster. What’s perhaps even better is that most moms already have a bottle in the kitchen (and it’s fun to watch the husband fathom out where all the olive oil is going!). When purchasing creams is out of the question, olive oil is a cheap and effective alternative.

The sun can wreak havoc on anyone’s skin. This of particular concern to mothers, for after they give birth their skin is more susceptible to ultraviolet rays. So, moderation is best here. For prolonged periods outdoors, use a strong sunscreen; even on cloudy days. This will help to retain any moisture within while simultaneously blocking the aging properties of the sun (and to think, when we were young we want to look older to enter nightspots!).

These are a few quick and simple tips that busy moms can employ without much trouble or having to spend a great deal of money. The skin is like any other part of the body; care for it properly and you can see and feel the rewards for years to come.

Does going to bed without washing your face because you’re too friggin tired count as a beauty routine? Cause it’s all I’ve got right now.
