Dressing in Colour

“How was your day?”

“Good, but everyone was so surprised to see me wearing white.”

“That’s becauase all you wear is black… it’s depressing, you were always sad. Now you’re happy, bright, wearing colours, and talking.”

He’s right.

There’s been a shift.

And it’s spilling over into something so small as my clothing.

Where I used to wear black from head to toe, keep my hair down to cover my face, stay back from the conversation, furrow my brow, I’m now busting through with vibrant colour.

I’m looking for bright clothing when I shop, seeking out the yellows, blues, and pinks. I’m walking with my head up and smiling at people I walk past, and taking time to seek out conversations with people.

I’m taking time to think about how I feel, how I want to feel, and my goals.

I’m enjoying the sun.

And I’m enjoying this new outlook.

I feel lighter, brighter, and happier.

It could be the weather, it could be the meds, it could be a combination. Regardless it’s a wonderful change.

Bring on the bright.

I notice I’ve done the same thing, switching to brighter colors. When the depression starts to sneak up on me again, I revert back to the blacks and dark greys. I didn’t really think about it until I was reading this and nodding my head. Interesting concept.

I only just noticed it myself and am much happier in the bright colours! I’m really trying to stay bright and cheery with my clothing to see how it affects my mood.

I wear hoodies and my hair is up in a “I don’t care” ponytail. It scares Chunky and he will tell me to put my hair down.
    That makes me so sad…
…and at the same time it makes me want to eat ice cream because that makes things better.
    So proud of you!!
