Ready or Not

In three more days our daughter will leave the daycare she has been at for the better part of her toddler years and go to school.

My heart is racing.

If I close my eyes I can see her running in circles around the playground, holding hands with her bestie, laughing until it hurts, and skipping through the hopscotch squares.

I see her talking through her lunch, putting her hand up, talking through the story because she’s so excited to learn the outcome, and gluing her hands together.

I see her growing.

If I close my eyes I see my little girl the way she was months ago, with the promise of school looming, her hair in her eyes but don’t you dare pull it back, big girl shoes on, and a scooter ready to ride.

She’s ready for this adventure.

I’m the one who’s hesitant.

I want her to be my baby forever.

Little, tiny, mommy is always right, baby.

Brace yourself little girl. Mommy isn’t always right.

Three more days and we set off in a new direction. We spend a week together on vacation and then school begins.

Whether we like it or not.

Ok.

Whether I like it or not.

We’re doing this.

You are ready! I know you are! It’s this whole change thing, it’s tricky and not always fun! I’m so very happy she is ready. There is nothing more heart warming for a parent when something so new and such a new adventure for our children is something they are also ready for. I hope you are enjoying your vacation and I can’t wait to hear more about your Kindergartner!
