Netflix is our Valentine

Today was Valentine’s Day celebrations at my daughters school. She dressed in white and red… excuse me, pink, because red is not her colour, and she skipped through the school with her bag, excited to give valentines to her classmates.

After her day was done she burst through the door, dumped her valentines mail bag on the table, and went through every one she had received, reading each name out loud, grateful for their gift.

That’s really all it takes to show someone you care.

A little note.

Not lavish bouquets, weekend getaways, diamond rings, and expensive dinners.

People, generally, just want to know that they’re important.

That they’re appreciated and that the people they care about care about them too.

This Valentine’s day we will be snuggling up on the couch, finding a family show on Netflix, grabbing whatever candy we can find, and relaxing.

While the restaurants are filled to the brim, flowers are over priced, and partners are in the doghouse for forgetting to make reservations, we will be stuffing our faces with sugar and going through the list of newest releases.
