Although Canada Day was July 1st and we celebrated our country’s 149th birthday on that day that doesn’t mean the celebration ended there!
We are proud Canadian’s all month and all year-long!
Our family celebrated this year with our whole family getting together for a BBQ at my aunt’s house. We swam, ate, and had a long over due visit. It was so nice to see the younger generation playing together and to take a minute and reflect on my cousins and I who are now at the age my parents were when my brother and I first started swimming in that very same pool.
It was more than celebrating our country’s birthday, it was about celebrating family, catching up, laughing at our children and the antics they pull, and remembering the same antics we used to pull as kids.
It was about how small the diving board looked now in comparison to how it looked when I was little and watching my daughter climb on it, so nervous, and her cousins reassuring her that she could do it.
And she did.
We cheered each other’s kids on a they jumped swam and dived, all making memories and surpassing milestones.
We clinked glasses, carried plates of food, and laughed until our stomachs hurt.
And we ended the day with the reminder that we never get to see each other enough. That we missed each other. That we needed to get together more often.
And we are right.
After such a great day celebrating our country and family, so much sun, and great food the best place to be that night was snuggled on the couch with some Netflix.
But not just plain ol’ Netflix!
We needed Canadian made shows!

Our Canada Day was incredible. But it wasn’t about the actual day. It was about the people we were with!
